Over the upcoming New Year's holiday, many local attractions, shops, museums and other services in Matsumoto will be closed or have limited opening hours. Please note the following important closures and limited hours over the New Year period.
Matsumoto-Experience
- Closure Notice
Our company will be closed from December 31st to January 2nd. No tours will operate during this period.
- Limited Operating Hours / Tours
On December 29th and 30th and again on January 3rd, we will have limited operating hours including limited tour operations due to the closure of local attractions. If you’d like to know more about our available tours and activities during this period, feel free to contact us.
Matsumoto Castle
- Closure Notice
Matsumoto Castle will be closed from December 29th to December 31st. At that time, the inner garden and castle itself will not be accessible. The outer park will however remain accessible to the public.
- Limited Opening Hours
From January 1st to January 3rd, Matsumoto Castle will have limited opening hours. During this period, the castle will be open from 10:00 to 15:30 - last entry at 15:00. The inner garden access will be accessible free of charge while the castle will have paid admission.
From January 4th onward, regular opening hours will recommence with the castle open from 08:30 to 17:00 – last entry at 16:30.

Other Closures
Many local attractions will be closed during the New Year’s holiday period including Matsumoto City Museum of Art, the Ukiyo-e Museum, Daio Wasabi Farm and more.
