Located in the rural town of Azumino-Hotaka, Daio Wasabi Farm is one of Japan’s most famous wasabi farms. Known for its picturesque watermills, crystal-clear streams, and expansive wasabi fields, the farm offers a relaxing yet fascinating experience just a short journey from Matsumoto. For tours that begin at the farm, the meeting point is at the main entrance gate, directly in front of the large wooden sign that reads “大王わさび農場” (Daio Wasabi Farm). Where is the Meeting Point?

Your guide will be waiting just outside the main gate, next to the large entrance sign and the parking area. This is the central meeting point before entering the farm and is easy to spot, even on busy days.

 

How to Get There?

 

  • By Train & Taxi (Recommended)

From Matsumoto Station, take the JR Ōito Line to Hotaka Station (approximately 30 minutes, ¥330).

 

From Hotaka Station, it’s about a 10-minute taxi ride to the wasabi farm (approximately ¥1,500). Taxis are available outside the station’s main exit. If needed, show the driver: “Daio Wasabi Farm” or “Daio Wasabi Nojō”(大王わさび農場).

 

  • By Train & Walk

From Matsumoto Station, take the JR Ōito Line to Hotaka Station. From there, you can walk to the wasabi farm—an approximately 40-minute stroll through the beautiful farmland of this scenic countryside region of Japan.

 

  • By Train & Bus

Driving from Matsumoto takes approximately 35–40 minutes, depending on traffic. Free parking is available on-site. For navigation, search “Daio Wasabi Farm” on Google Maps.
